Park run

I have been wanting and meaning to do a parkrun for a long time now. For whatever reason, I have never done it. I am usually too tired from the week, but today was the day. I had planned to go to bed early but it didn't happen. I also took a while to fall asleep. When my alarm, went off I woke up and snoozed a little bit. I was planning not to snooze too much and I didn't give myself too much snooze time either.

I had a little snooze but got up still with time to go. I got ready and left but then realised I had forgotten my barcodes so I quickly went back to the house. Then off I went.

It was a long 30 minute walk to get there, further than I had anticipated the night before. I jogged a little bit as I was worried about not getting there on time. As I got closer, I saw lots of other people looking like they were going for a run too. I guessed they were going to the same place so I followed them as I wasn't sure which way to go. There were hundreds of people there I couldn't believe it. I felt so anxious.

I spoke to a marshal and said it was my first park run what do I do?, they were very nice and pointed me to the start where everyone else was going. Everyone was really friendly. I was talked through the course with some others as it was my first time doing it. Then it was time to start. My friend had advised me to go slowly on the first one which I did. I had been worried about getting lost and stuck at the back but I wasn't. I was near the back but not the very back, but like they say it isn't a race. I didn't get lost as there were always either other runners or marshals nearby. I did walk for some of it as I have never run a full 5k before. By the time I finished there was some orange pieces left and I picked up the last chocolate from a celebrations box, another lady was interested in it as well so we shared it. This was scary at first but I now have the first one under my belt and out of the way.

In September last year, I did a 5k Urban Mudder and survived that so this was the next challenge for me and I am so glad I did. Don't get me wrong I found it hard but I am glad I did it. My legs are so sore today.

I have felt so motivated, positive and ready to take on the new year and new decade.
