On Friday it was the 75th anniversary of VE Day. It was a fantastic day that people in the UK spent celebrating this day. However, the way we all wanted to celebrate was affected by us being under lockdown. What I love about this was that people didn't want to not celebrate the day just because we were under lockdown, no. They found a more creative way of celebrating.
Where I was the road, celebrated by having a picnic in everyone's front gardens. We rose a toast at 3pm. Then at 4pm there were some performances and then again at 7pm. In between then, There was a chance to talk to neighbours, all at a social distance. It was a great day and I think everyone enjoyed it. We were very lucky with the weather as well. It would have been a very different story if it had been raining.
A positive aspect of the lockdown is how it has brought communities together and I love that. I really hope that this sense of community and looking out for each other continues when this lockdown is over. Whenever that may be.
