Reminiscing and reconnecting

This week I was invited into a group on social media of people who I used to know. It was in the days before social media.

I used to spend many a summer abroad working when I was younger. I lived for summer and I lived for going abroad to go out and experience new things and make new friends. Someone from this period had created a group for all workers to reconnect and it has been the best thing. I have relived many memories, seen many old faces from that period. There have been photos and stories shared. It has been great to hear the different stories over the various years that everyone experienced and catching up with old friends. People have been digging out old photos and sharing their memories with all in the group.

Whilst we all don't know each other, there is a mutual respect and connection because we have all lived and enjoyed summers abroad at this place. So many happy memories for us all when we didn't have a care in the world. All we cared about was having a good time.

I had blocked so much of this time out for various reasons, I am not even sure why but I had or maybe I had just forgotten. Being in this group has brought back some memories for me, some of them good, some bad and some ugly! But I am focusing on the happy times that I had and the friendships that I made whilst there.

Something lockdown has done is bring us all together and relive the happy memories of back in the day. It has been a funny old week because of it. I am happy lockdown has happened because it has brought us all together. I thank the creators of the group for thinking up such an amazing idea. It really has lifted up so many people's spirits, mine included. The flashbacks that I have been getting have been crazy the more I see in this group and the memories that come flooding back.

Lockdown has been a time to slow down, regroup and reconnect so let's keep doing that.
